Major Activities

Life course nutrition

  • Revision of the National Nutrition Policy in consultation with other relevant stakeholders.
  • Advocacy and dissemination of the revised National Nutrition Policy.
  • Advocacy on community nutrition.
  • Provision of technical guidance and support for maternal and child, adult and elderly nutrition.
  • Development and revision of evidence informed policies and standards related to healthy diet, nutrition and health.
  • Development and dissemination of guidelines / recommendations to promote healthy dietary practices throughout the life course.

 

  • Capacity building of master trainers to provide nutrition awareness in the community with special emphasis on adult and elderly nutrition.
  • Formulation and dissemination of National Nutrition Quality Standards for residential care for older persons.
  • Evaluation of the preschool teacher’s training programme to improve the Nutrition status of pre-school children and do necessary modifications.
  • Conduction of school canteen survey, and development of standards and dissemination of results to relevant stakeholders.
  • Development of Canteen guidelines for work places.
  • Revision of the  Food Based Dietary Guidelines (FBDG) in consultation with experts and dissemination of the updated FBDG with the communication strategy.
  • Management of implementation of relevant guidelines.
  • Monitoring of International Conference on Nutrition 2 recommendations in relation to life cycle nutrition.
  • Identification of potential research gaps pertaining to community nutrition and directing future research.

Food supplementation & Fortification Programme.

  1. Convening Technical Advisory Group committee meetings on Food Fortification and Supplementation.
  2. Development of standards for Iron and Folate fortification of rice and updated Thriposha premix.
  3. Formulation of implementation strategies for food fortification/supplementation
